It gives me great pleasure to present to you a new report entitled Promise, Policy, Performance: Two Years of People's Government, 2008-2010 published and released this month by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of Pakistan.

This Report on the two years of the Pakistan Peoples Party-led Coalition Government is an account of its performance at a particularly challenging time in the history of Pakistan. On May 3, 2010, the Report was laid in the National Assembly and the Senate of Pakistan to invite critical debate and suggestions from the elected representatives of Pakistan.

This Report is a duly referenced volume that you will find valuable for purposes of clarity of perspective, conducting research, gathering factual information, and seeking knowledge on issues related to the last two years of the People's Government. It is an effort to ensure right to information as enshrined in Article 19 A of the (Amended) Constitution of Pakistan. Additionally, it is in compliance with Section 25 (2 b) of the Rules of Business 1973.

The performance of the People's Government outlined in this Report does not exclusively pertain to the PPP and its Coalition Partners. It has been a collective national effort of all democratic forces and political parties that want to steer Pakistan out of turmoil, and put it on a democratic path of peace, progress and prosperity.
